Mprosevir is an innovative oral small molecule drug against SARS-CoV-2. 

It is a non-covalent inhibitor targeting the key protease 3CLpro of coronavirus. The replication of SARS-CoV-2 begins with the binding of the virus's S protein to the ACE2 receptor of the host cell, following which the viral genome RNA enters the host cell and is translated into the polypeptide chain using the host's ribosome. The newly synthesized polypeptide chain is then hydrolytically cleaved by PLpro and 3CLpro, generating the non-structural proteins necessary for viral replication. Consequently, inhibiting 3CLpro can effectively block the replication of the coronavirus.

As a non-covalent inhibitor with novel skeleton,Mprosevir exhibits high affinity and potency. 

Furthermore, it does not require co-administration with enhancers such as Ritonavir,thereby reducing the risk of drug interactions and making it suitable for a broader patient population.
